FROM THE DISTRICT COMMODORE
Welcome to the 9th Eastern Region of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary! As the Commodore of 9ER, I welcome each and every one of you to explore our great organization via this website. As Commodore, I am privileged to work with several units of the Auxiliary's greatest in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
The 9th Eastern Region of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary is made up of "flotillas" - units of volunteers working throughout a wide range of geographical locations. These units consist of people of all kinds of social and career backgrounds, ages, and ethnic backgrounds. We are a diverse group that utilizes individual strengths and uniqueness for the betterment of the organization. We each offer different talents and skills, and make a superb team. We recognize that teamwork is critical to success, and "Together, we are Better!" I encourage anyone interested in joining a #1 team, to contact us for more information. Explore our website - discover the accomplishments our organization, and the benefits of membership in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary!
The National Commodore of The Coast Guard Auxiliary, Steve Budar, has a vision that sees the Auxiliary meeting America's changing maritime safety and security challenges. He understands that this can be accomplished by balancing our allocation of resources in two areas: recreational boating safety and maritime domain awareness missions.
In the 9th Eastern Region of the USCG Auxiliary, we do exactly this! We are America's finest group of volunteers and enhance recreational boating safety, and continually increase awareness maritime awareness, assisting the Coast Guard in protecting America's waterways. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary members in this region provide the recreational boating public with a wide variety of services. We offer low-cost, yet high-value public education courses for people of all ages. We offer no-cost vessel examinations; which provide boat owners with a breadth of safety information. In addition, we make sure that marine dealers and recreational sport businesses have ample brochures containing safety information, so that the general public has a bountiful source of educational material. We also assist the Coast Guard in maritime domain awareness; a particularly valuable endeavor in this post 9/11 era.
Once again, welcome to 9ER, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary; where "Together, we are better!"
